Frequently Asked Questions About Tanner Blake Salon

What is your cancellation policy?

Tanner Blake Salon upholds a strict cancellation policy. If you need to cancel your appointment for any reason, please let us know as quickly as possible. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice of your appointment, you will be charged a late notice cancellation fee of $25 for a haircut or $50 for any color services. This fee will be accessed before you are able to rebook or proceed with any services previously scheduled.

What if I'm late to my appointment?

If you are more than 15 minutes late to your appointment, you will most likely need to reschedule to accommodate other clients that are scheduled after you.

Can I bring my children with me?

Being pampered and being able to escape from daily stresses is an environment we strive for at Tanner Blake. For the courtesy of other clients and the safety of your child, children under the age of 10 are not allowed in the salon unless receiving services. If they are receiving services it must be at a separate time from the parent/guardians appointment. Failure to comply will result in you being asked to reschedule.

What should I do if I'm not happy with my services?

If you are unhappy with your services, we ask that you let us know within 72 hours and the work must be completed within 7 days from the date of service. We need to know or we can’t do anything about it. We always go out of our way to make our clients happy and when someone isn’t, we will do what it takes to make the situation better. That being said, not achieving desired final results in one session, when we have discussed in the consultation that it will require multiple sessions, does not constitute a "re-do."Once again, if there is an issue, we are always willing to make it right and leave you 100% happy with your hair!

What is the difference between foiling and balayage?

Dimensional haircolor is fabulous, and there are many different ways to take you from where you are to where you want to be. Sometimes that entails highlighting your hair by weaving it and wrapping it in foils. This allows the color to be very precise. Depending on how much of your hair is highlighted and how many foils are placed, you may receive a full or partial foil. Balayage is a technique in which color is literally painted onto the hair. It produces a more sun-kissed look, and the technique is used to create more lived in looking color. Again, a full or partial application may be necessary, depending on what you’re going for. I absolutely love when you come with inspiration photos so that we can decide what technique will accomplish your hair goals.

What is corrective color?

Our first priority with color correction services is maintaining the health of your hair. Corrective color is not only fixing a color that has gone wrong, but it is really any major hair color change. Subtle changes in hair color are generally possible at your regular hair appointments, but when dramatic changes are desired, correction appointments may be needed. It is most important to understand that color does not lift color. Once you put artificial color, of any type, but particularly blacks or reds, on your hair, professional techniques are required to change it to anything lighter; or to darken a pre-lightened color. It is important to understand color theory and how hair grabs color to not end up with undesireable tones and blotchy results.

In-salon consultations are always complimentary, but are required to schedule any corrective color appointment. These appointments are generally lengthy, and cost more than traditional color services.

How long will my hair color last?

If you use high quality products (shampoos, conditioners, and styling aids) specifically designed for colored hair, your hair color should last from 4 to 8 weeks, with 5 to 6 being typical. That’s a big range, but the variance has to do with your tolerance for fading, how often you wash your hair, how hot the water is and how much you’re in the sun. Water is the main culprit, but if you use inexpensive shampoos with detergents, your hair color will simply not last as long. A cheap non-color safe shampoo can strip red in one washing. You may think I'm saying that in order to get you to buy the better products here, but the higher detergent drugstore type shampoos will truly strip your color quickly. Also, conditioners with a high paraffin content will bind to your color and make it wash out more quickly.

If we are talking fashion colors, (vivids, pastels, metallics, etc) the life of the color cannot be guaranteed. We can talk details on caring for your fashion colors at home, to make them last as long as possible, at your appointment.
